  2. Is the Isolaz™ Treatment Cleared by the FDA? Yes. In fact, the Isolaz™ is the only system FDA cleared to treat pustular and comedonal acne as well as mild to moderate and acne vulgaris.  Isolaz™ is also FDA cleared to treat benign vascular and pigmented lesions, and perform permanent hair reduction.
  3. Is the Isolaz™ treatment really painless? Yes. In a published clinical study, an astounding 100% of patients noted painless. [Reference: Novel Photopneumatic Therapy Delivers High-Efficiency Photons to Dermal Targets, Vic Narurkar, MD. Vol 18, No. 2, February 2005, Cosmetic Dermatology].
  4. How long is an Isolaz™ treatment? It depends on what is being treated – hair removal for backs and legs can take 20 minutes.  Treatments on the face may take 10 minutes.
  5. Will I have sensitivity to light following my Isolaz™ treatment? No.  Unlike other treatments, the Isolaz™ system does not cause sensitivity to light.
  6. Have patients been happy with Photopneumatic™ results? Patients have been extremely happy with their clinical outcomes from Isolaz™ Photopneumatic™ therapy. According to a clinical study 100% of patients surveyed noted that they would choose Isolaz™ Photopneumatics™ over previously experienced laser skin therapy and light based treatments for hair removal and skin rejuvenation. [Reference: Novel Photopneumatic Therapy Delivers High-Efficiency Photons to Dermal Targets, Vic Narurkar, MD. Vol 18, No. 2, February 2005, Cosmetic Dermatology].
  7. What skin types can be treated with Isolaz™ Therapy? All skin types (I-VI) can be treated using Isolaz™.
  8. Is there downtime associated with the treatment? Isolaz™ treatments are relaxing and do not include side effects such as redness, crusting or other common post-treatment discomforts.  With Isolaz™ therapy, you can go right back to your normal activities immediately post-treatment.
  9. Will I respond to Isolaz if I have not responded to Accutane (Isotretinoin)?  While everyone is different, many patients who have not responded to other acne treatments have responded to Isolaz treatments.
  10. Am I a candidate for Isolaz™ Acne Therapy?  Any person who has acne may be a candidate.
  11. What Types of Acne Does the Isolaz™ Treat?  The Isolaz™ is the only system FDA cleared to treat pustular and comedonal acne as well as mild to moderate and acne vulgaris.
  12. Will I still need to use topicals or other medication? Ask your Isolaz™ treatment provider – depending on your own situation you may be asked to continue to use topicals while undergoing Isolaz™ treatments.
  13. Does the Isolaz™ work 100% of the time?  Everyone’s skin is different but studies have shown that 85% of people who have an Isolaz™ laser acne treatment will experience clearer skin.
  14. What if I only get a breakout every once in a while – could I still have an Isolaz™ Treatment?  Of course!  Because the Isolaz™ uses vacuum, it can help keep your pores cleansed and purified for healthy, radiant looking skin.
  15. How many treatments will I need?  Five treatments are generally needed to get excellent results.  However, the exact number of treatments varies from patient to patient.
  16. What acne conditions can IsoLaz™ treat? IsoLaz™ effectively and safely treats mild to moderate acne for all skin types on the face and body (back and chest).  IsoLaz™ fights the root causes of acne by removing blackheads, reducing oil, cleansing the pores and reducing their overall appearance.
  17. How quickly can IsoLaz™ acne treatment results be seen? Isolaz™ acne treatment results vary from patient to patient and the number of necessary treatments is determined by the patient’s skin type, type of acne and place on the body being treated.  IsoLaz™ treatment settings are customizable to more effectively treat the severity of the patient’s acne and their specific type of acne.  Noticeable improvements are visible after one treatment, with optimal results seen after four to six recommended treatments.  A consultation with the Dr. Ishoo at Boston Cosmetic Specialists allows patients to plan the top treatment options available for the best results.
  18. How does IsoLaz™ effectively treat acne? IsoLaz™ uses the combined power of vacuum technology and broadband light to gently apply pressure to the pores to break up and extract acne comedones.  IsoLaz™ has proven effective in reducing acne lesions for patients that may not have responded to previous antibiotics, topical or laser treatments.  Treatments typically last less than an hour, require no downtime and don’t cause light sensitivity.  IsoLaz™ is safe for all skin types and is ideal for patients who want clearer, more radiant skin.
  19. How long have Isolaz treatments been available? The Isolaz technology was first introduced in 2005. Dr. Ishoo has been using the device since it was first introduced.
  20. How does it work? Isolaz technology combines vacuum with a broadband light to deliver effective acne treatments. The vacuum helps loosen and extract dirt, blackheads and excess oil from deep within your pores. Then the light helps destroy acne causing bacteria, as well as reducing facial redness.
  21. How long is the treatment? It depends on the area of the body being treated; treatments on the face may take 15 to 20 minutes, whereas treatments on the back and chest may take a little longer. We ask that you reserve at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. This allows youtime to check-in, wash your face, take before photos and steam the skin prior to treatment.
  22. How many treatments will I need? Typically, six treatments are needed to start. However, the exact number of treatments varies from patient to patient and will be determined by Dr Ishoo.
  23. Who can be treated with Isolaz? What kind of acne can be treated? Isolaz treatment is great for everyone and it can treat all skin types, light and dark. Isolaz can treat most types of acne, except cystic lesions. During your consultation, the physicians will evaluate your acne and determine which acne treatment is right for you.
  24. When will I start to see results? Typically, patients can see a visible improvement in the redness or severity of their acne after the first treatment. It’s important to stick to the treatment plan that we will outline for you to see the full effects of treatment. Recent reports have shown that Isolaz can make prescription treatment work more efficiently.
  25. What will I look like immediately after the procedure? Can I go out in public? You may see some mild redness in the treatment area, but yes, after your Isolaz treatment, you can go right back to your normal activities. We ask you to avoid prolonged sun exposure but there is usually minimal to no recovery time following Isolaz treatment. We use Oxygenetix tone matched foundation for the perfect camouflage.
  26. Can I put make-up on right after treatment? In some cases, you may be able to put on mineral make-up after the treatment. We can discuss this further in your consultation.
  27. Does it hurt? In a clinical study, 100% of patients noted Isolaz treatments were painless. For this reason, Isolaz is easily performed on teens as well as adults.
  28. I’ve tried everything for my acne, including Accutane® (Isotretinoin). Will Isolaz treatment really work for me? While everyone’s skin is different, many patients who have not responded to other acne treatments, including Accutane, other antibiotics, topical creams or even lasers have responded to Isolaz treatments. In fact, studies have shown that 85% of people who have an Isolaz treatment will experience clearer skin.
  29. I’m currently on Accutane® (Isotretinoin) / or (another acne medication). Can I get an Isolaz treatment? Isolaz treatment can be performed while you are on medications, such as antibiotics.
